Widget
AnsweredI noticed that the Android Widget doesn't work (anymore). After installation it pops up and give the error that it is stopped working. Already read some comments that this is a fault by Android, it won't allow widgets by security. But that sounds a bit weird. There are many widgets that works well on Android 8. So it sounds more like an excuse.
I already made a remark of the browsing issue on Android. For me the bluesound is more "apple" minded than Android. The app is working fine on IOS devices (even with Apple Watch, I use a Gear but even think about questioning of support on that..).
So Apple + Bluesound = nice, Android + Bluesound = not so good
Remarkable if you know that Android is more "open" than IOS...

Hi Joost
Android significantly changed how Widgets work with the release of Android 8. As a result our Engineers are making changes of their own to accommodate.
Look for the Widget to return in a near future release.
Thanks for your patience.

Hello,
I'm using Android 4.4 and hope the widget will still work after this change.

7 months later. Nothing changed so far. Changed to Samsung s9+ and the new Galaxy Watch... But no progress on the side of Bluesound. My Son owns an IPhone X with the Apple watch. That works great. The things I would like to work isn't possible on Android, but works on IoS. Is it really that hard to make this work?? Maybe the development of Bluesound is the best on IoS?? Are there so much development issues on Android??
Made another issue on browsing on the music in Android. You Always return at the top of the list... So frustrating. IoS does not have this problem. Also 7 months ago .... No action, no result!!!
I can't follow this, and thinking to change the multiroom system to Sonos. Less audio quality, but the development team does listen to the end users. Shame on you Bluedound!!!!
Tired of the comments "sending this to the dev team", "in the near future it will be possible"... Nice to say.
Now time for some action!

Hey Bluesound crew. Can you give us an update on the progress of the widget for Android? Look att the Philips Hue app, it has a widget that function exactly the way a Bluesound widget would, buttons that control functions.

Hi Fred
If you are on Android 8.0 or higher and have notifications on - The BluOS App will provide status on the lock screen as part Android. You can also see it in notifications.

Hi Tony. Well im not really interested in status. I want the ability to change input source, favourite radio channels and volume in a widget.

Hi Fred
Android doesn't let us do that since the release of 8.0 as it violates their security requirements. You will have to use teh App for that...

Well, if you look at Philips Hue Essentials app they have a widget that you can use to switch lights etc on and off. Can't see whats different from what a BlueOS widget would do, security requirement wise.

Tried to add the widget to the home screen if my Android 9 tablet today. Still not possible. The Yamaha Musiccast widget works just fine for choosing input and adjusting volume. Why not the Bluos? 🤔
