I am a brand new Bluesound owner and I have the exact same request as Tycho. Looking forward to an update to resolve this - thank you!

I have also the same request as Tycho. I bought this set and the sound is really beautifull, but this is missing when using the speakers not as homecinema group. I'm looking forward for a sollution.

Having the same issue, please add this feature.

    Grouping/ungrouping is no option.

    Thank you!

I've been spending a lot of time to fix this. I thought there would be a problem with the speakers but after testing it all I finally found this topic. As this request is almost a year old, I would like to get a update on this request.

  • Hi Eelco

We need some more details about your home network. Please select Help, Send Support in the App so we may see the log file. In the description of your request, please also let us know the make and model of your router and other home networking equipment...

It’s related to another post I created, it really takes long solving this. I don’t understand why it’s so difficult, please have a look how other brands do this, for example Sonos.

    Hi Tony,

For this request I don't think the router / networking equipment is of any importance but please correct me if I am wrong.

When the speakers are set-up in a home cinema group, the FLEXes will only play when they are triggered by a Dolby Digital signal and they remain quiet otherwise (when playing music through home cinema setup, only the SOUNDBAR will play).

If one would like to listen to music over the SOUNDBAR and the FLEXes, one would have to ungroup the home cinema setup and choose 'group all speakers'. Once ready for a movie, one would have to set up the home cinema group again. This is just annoying and user unfriendly and the product will become even better if this is dealt with.

I guess that it could be fixed through a software update but I must admit that I am not the expert here.

Please let me know if you do indeed require some additional information regarding the network setup, I have been hoping to see this solved for some time now.

    Kind regards,
    Tycho

    Hi Tycho and Andre,

I'm sure the network connection is not the problem, it's the software that is not designed for this specific occasion. But I have contacted the Bluesound support team via the steps that Tony asked me to.

I'm not into the Bluesound software but I work a lot with software requirements and solutions. So I suggested as a solution the following:

    • I'm thinking of two options:
1: When sound setting of soundbar is on Music, all speakers in the Home theatre group play the music.
2: The possibility to add speakers to more then one group. In that case I can make a Home theatre group, for watching movies and a multiroom group for music. With each group having the same speakers in the group, but with the difference that in Home theatre group the Flex2i rears, only act as rear-speakers and in the multiroom group they just act as normal speakers in combination with the soundbar.

How do you guys think of those two options?

I hope Bluesound can figure out a solution because it's a bit silly that the "best" multiroom system available, is not supporting this. A lot of my friends are laughing about it and making jokes about 'You said it was the best multiroom system...?' :). And I have to admit that they surely are right about this point.

@Tony. As Tycho said he would like to help you guys with further information to solve the problem, you surely can contact me to have some extra information if needed, thinking of a possible user-friendly solution or to try things out.

    Kind regards,

    Eelco

  • Hi Tycho

Thanks for expanding the details. So yes, if the FLEXes are working in a Home Theater Group with a DOLBY (5.1) signal then yes the FLEXes will be silent when only playing a 2.1 stream such as Music. This is not an 'issue' per se as this it is working as it should.

As Eelco eluded to we have to manufacturer an option here. We have had some great conversations with our development team to plan out what those options are but don't have a time frame just yet...

    Hi Tony,

Thanks for your fast reply! I agree it is in software terms not called an 'issue' because it works as designed.  But that doesn't mean users are dealing with it as an 'issue'. :)

I think this would really upgrade the usability of the system in a very good way, maybe you guys can also look at Google Home where you can make several speaker groups with the same speakers in different groups. That really works nice.

It would be nice if we can be updated about this subject via this feature request. And also if the development team has some questions about how the Bluesound users think about the possible solutions.

    Kind regards,

    Eelco

    Hi Eelco

We do not share time lines but will make a big splash when the time comes via release notes on this site and via Twitter @bluesoundhifi or fb.com/bluesound.hifi

    Hi Tony,

I am happy to hear that there have been conversations with the development team. Eelco has pointed out two solutions that will fit our needs. Personally I feel most for the first option. Looking forward to when either one or similar is implemented.

    Kind regards,
    Tycho

    Hi guys,

I just want to link this issue to this one: https://support1.bluesound.com/hc/en-us/community/posts/360021800013-Create-multiple-groups-with-same-speakers?page=1#comments

It's nearly the same thing: limitations in using Bluesound speakers due to the fact that one can not add a speaker to multiple groups.

    Best regards,

    Martin
