Node 2 Distortion from Analog output
AnsweredI have been enjoying my Node 2 for a few days now. And i really do enjoy it. Its gong to replace my Yamaha WXC-50.
However yesterday I noticed that there was some audible distortion while I was playing the Thor Ragnarok soundtrack, At first I though it was coming from the recording because of its loud mixing, but today I was playing a jazz album, The Dancers at the Edge of Time by the Greg Foat Group, and I noticed the distortion even more. It really lingered around the piano and saxophone at certain moments.
After some troubleshooting , I narrowed it down to the Node 2. It seems as though at its default in Fixed Output mode, it's trying to output more volume than the pre outputs can handle. I was able to remedy this by enabling Variable Output, and then lowering the volume limits from 0 to -10, and then renabling the Fixed Mode again. The volume limit setting still holds it effect even though its grayed out. After doing this all the distortion was gone.
I tried searching for similar topics, but I couldn't find any mentioning this issue. So maybe its just my Node 2. But I thought I'd post my fix here in case anyone else runs into it. And hopefully it can be addressed in a future firmware update.
My setup is as followed
Node 2-analog out-Parasound Halo Integrated fixed analog out-Avantree Oasis-Bowers Wilkins PX
