    Hi Geoff

The NODE is 4 for 4 on your test...

    1) Yes

    2) Use Bluesound INSTEAD of your PC by mapping the local music there - or use Bluesound as a bluetooth speaker for your PC for streaming services

    3) Yes but via Bluetooth not wifi

    4) Absolutely - what it does best actually

    Thanks for the swift reply.

I would like to skip the use of bluetooth: it's said the sound quality is less.

About option 2: Could you elaborate on that? Suppose I'm using Adobe Audition as a random example. Can I indeed map all the PC audio playback directly via wifi towards the NODE 2? (I understand there might be quite some lag that makes working like this impossible but it's just an example)

About option 3: Without Bluetooth, what sort of audio can the phone push towards the NODE? (or maybe none)

    Other questions:
    • Is the internal drive of Node 2 solid state or some spinning disc?
    • Which DAC is used? I get very mixed information. You say 24/192khz Cirrus on the spec sheet but actual gut shots on the internet seem to reveal a Burr Brown 32bit/284khz. That would be spectacular! Those are great.

Create a network share from your Bluesound Player to your computer or NAS and the file is played directly on the Player via our BluOS App. The computer is merely a storage source - you would not be using computer software for processing.

Bluesound uses aptX Bluetooth so will receive at the highest transmission available. Most phones do not support aptX but rest assured if your does you will be fine...

The VAULT is our only player with internal local storage. It has 2 TB of quite storage using slow spinning disc to avoid heat, noise and provide long lasting resilience. 2TB of solid state performance would add significant costs.

Our original line up included a 24/192 Cirrus Logic DAC - this was updated with Gen2 Players in mid 2015 to use a Burr Brown 24/192 DAC.

Please visit bluesound.com/stores to locate a dealer and arrange a demo for you to hear your self.

I think we misread each other here.

With drive, I meant the system drive. I've seen the Node 2 has a system drive. I was wondering if it is solid state or not? (this is not a data drive)

And with using the PC is was not merely speaking of playing files with the Node and its PC app. I understand that works. But I mean to transfer the audio of ANY application on the PC (the ENTIRE audio output) and let the Node pick that up via wifi. Like the free program StreamWhatYourHear can do: it will shut down the PC speakers and throw whatever you're meant to hear into the wifi stream. Could a Node pick that up?

    Hi Geoff

Other than the Internal Storage of the VAULT, Bluesound Players have no moving parts.

BluOS is designed as a total eco-system to remove the PC from the equation as a music system - if you are simply looking for quality active speakers for your PC, our good friends at PSB Speakers have some great products in their Alpha Lineup.

If however you are looking at quality DACs, designed for a digital experience with direct streaming from a PC or NAS, or from Hi-Res Services such as TIDAL or Deezer and the ability to fill multiple rooms in your home with Music, then do arrange for a demo.

I am looking for options like this as well. I have a Fibaro Home Center 3, and I would like for it to stream sounds directly to the Node in order to play messages over the speakers. I guess it would be possible to share a NAS and have a set of pre-recorded files there, but it would be nice if one could stream the sounds directly.
