keyboard shortcuts -volume control

keyboard shotcuts for volume ctrl+up and ctrl+down dosen't work when navigating in the desktop app. It only works when the volume control window (tab) is clicked and brought up (when it comes up as see below) 

Could the volume shortcuts be done such that it works without going into the volume control window?

  Still working in 4.10.0, so it's most likely a bug introduced in a later release.
