Crackling/Clicking Noise When HDMI Autosense Is Enabled
AnsweredThis issue has been reported by several users, but support seems to have been insufficiently concerned about resolving it. When using the Bluesound Node N130 with HDMI autosense enabled, a crackling/clicking noise is heard on the coax/optical digital output, depending on the audio being played.
I own an audio and video installation company that uses Blusound in multiroom systems and high-end audio walls.
After recent updates, the clicking noise in the speakers is still clearly audible. This problem didn't exist before the firmware update introducing Dirac!
Your problematic updates are causing us to lose customers, and we're seriously considering offering other multiroom systems to our customers.
The problem only affects the system with HDMI autosense enabled. When we disable autosense, the crackling noise disappears. Giving your customers the choice of audible clicking noise or non-functioning autosense doesn't reflect well on the quality of your technical support.
The problem occurs with every Blusound Node we've used with a coaxial/optical digital output.

Have you logged a support ticket?
If not, immediately after hearing the noise in the BluOS App please select Settings, Send Support Request, the Bluesound Support Crew will be able review the log file and take a closer look.

Is it worth filing a ticket for a single device failure if the problem is reproducible in every player tested?
I tested seven Node N130. I don't know if it's reproducible in the newer N132.
This isn't a hardware failure, but rather a bug in your firmware.
Next week, I'll be able to submit a ticket for our Node N130 in our showroom, but this won't work for other players we've installed because they're already installed at customers' homes, and those customers expect a product without such absurd problems as an update disrupting the functionality of the purchased product.0 -
I am just an end user but if I have issues I cannot resolve I contact support via the method I posted above.

Sorry for the misunderstanding Seppi.
I thought someone from Bluos customer support answered me.0 -
I have auto sense enabled and I do get crackling sound. In my case it's more like screeching actually and it happens when audio is starting to be output. It is most pronounced when watching a bluray. For example, from the main menu of a disc, when I jump to a scene or a special feature the screeching happens. It goes away quickly, and then everything works fine, but it's quite annoying. Powernode 2i with a Sony bluray player and OLED TV.

Hi
I am using a Node Icon and unfortunately the crackling noise is there also when connecting an external DAC via USB. The support sais that it depends on the DAC and that the USB should only be used with a PC. I don´t know but it feels a bit strange because many user tends to use USB to get the highest resolution possible. I have not tested with another DAC though.
