Unable to reinstall BluOS on an iPad
AnsweredHi guys,
I'm starting a new thread, as trying to tag on to an existing one didn't work "BluOS Unable to reinstall on iPhone". Strangely, that one is marked as 'solved'.
I am suffering from the same issue in the thread. I deleted the app on my iPad after struggling with the app always defaulting to 'Searching for Player' (which happened even with no players powered on at all, and only happens with the iOS devices).
Upon reinstalling the app, I get the behavior above: Accept the terms and conditions, allow local network access, select 'Get Started', and the app just hangs. The 'Learn More' and 'Get Started' buttons disappear, but there is no other change.
I have:
* Deleted and reinstalled the app
* Restarted the iPad, and deleted the app, restarted the iPad, and then reinstalled the app.
* Deleted the app, restarted the iPad, restarted the iPad, reinstalled the app, restarted the iPad.
* Installed the app, gone into the setup, crashed the app, set "Local Network" permission off in the app, then allowed the app to reinable it
* Tried turning 'Private Wi-Fi Address' off in the settings
* Turned off 'Limit IP Address Tracking'
* Confirmed VPN is off
* Reset Network Settings under 'Transfer or Reset iPad'.
I am still having no luck. A bit more information:
* This iPad has previously worked with this BluOS system.
* Another iPad currently works with the system.
* All Android devices on the network currently see the system, and don't suffer from the 'Searching for Players' quirk.
* The Android BluOS works flawlessly, even moving between different locations with BluOS.
* Airplay is working from this iPad, and can correctly see and stream to all of the BluOS devices.
* Spotify Connect isworking from this iPad, and can correctly see and stream to all of the BluOS devices.
* Tidal Connect is working from this iPad, and can correctly see and stream to all of the BluOS devices.
* Yamaha's MusicCast works flawlessly on this iPad.
* The iPad is a 2015 iPad Pro 12.9 inch running iOS 16.7.11
* The other (working) iPad is a 2017 5th gen iPad running iOS 16.7.11
Any ideas? How did the last poster manage to solve his issues? It would be ideal to leave the solutions on the public forum, so that others can search and try some of the troubleshooting steps without needing to soak up support time.

Hi Jason,
I've escalated your feedback to a support request. A member of our support crew will reach out to you soon. -
Bringing this into the original thread to help others who are troubleshooting:
> Hello Jason,
> Thank you for contacting The Bluesound Support Crew.
> Sorry to hear that the players are not being found on one of your iPads. Please let me know how many and what BluOS players you have.
> Also, please let me know if the iPad used to work before or if the issue has been there since the beginning.
> Please provide me with the IP address of your iPad by going to Settings > Wifi > info > IPv4 address. Now, let us go to the iPad that is working and launch the BluOS app. Please go to Settings > Diagnostics > IP Address of one of the players.
> Let us perform the following steps:
> Please go to Settings > Privacy and Security > Local Network > BluOS and toggle it OFF
> Turn ON Airplane Mode under the iPad's Settings App for 30 seconds
> Power OFF the iPhone
> After a good 10 seconds, power ON the iPad
> Turn OFF Airplane Mode under the iPad's Settings App
> Now, go to Settings > Privacy and Security > Local Network > BluOS and toggle it ON
> Open the BluOS Controller App and test again to see if the problem persists
> Let me know! There was no change in behavior after following the steps outline above.

Updating here. BluOS support suggested:
In this case, let us perform the following steps and test again:
1. Power down all players and other network-attached devices, such as laptops, tablets, and smartphones (you can enable Airplane mode).
2. Disconnect any wireless extenders or repeaters in your home.
3. Disconnect your router. Wait for 30 seconds, then reconnect it.
4. Wait for 5 minutes (IMPORTANT – do NOT skip the wait time).
5. Power on all wireless extenders or repeaters and wait for 5 minutes. Skip this step if you don't have an extender/repeater.
6. Power on all players and network-attached devices, including laptops, tablets, and smartphones (ensure Airplane mode is disabled).
7. Relaunch the BluOS Controller App on your iPad.
This did not work. I then set up a different router and one of the BluOS devices on this separate network. Once the iPad found the device, I connected the BluOS device back to the regular network, and connected the iPad back to the main network, and the BluOS app was able to see all of the BluOS devices. However, the app still defaults to 'Connecting to Player'.
I have plugged the Ubiqiti UAC Lite directly into the Netgate 3100. I have created a shiny new 'testWifi' and connected only the iPad to this network and confirmed internet access.
The BluOS app still defaults to 'Connecting to Player'. This is with nothing else on the network at all.
What traffic does BluOS use to push the iPad into 'Connecting to Player' mode?

Interestingly, the third party app 'BluOS NAD remote' by CRW Solutions finds all the players perfectly first time.
