Tidal Connect
AnsweredI'd like to understand a bit more about 'who does what' when using Tidal connect with a Bluesound Node: does the streaming happen on the Node, with the url passed from the device running the Tidal App; or does the Tidal app itself do the streaming and pass this to the Node?
I assume it is the first one, but would like to check as I have the channels on my Wifi separated into different SSIDs for 5GHz and 2.4GHz. My phone is normally on 2.4GHz, but if it was to stream Hires music, I would want it on 5GHz. (The Node is connected on Ethernet.)

Yes, your first statement, the BluOS app cannot play music but tells the player what to do. In this case it tells the player to play the music directly from Tidal. So you can literally turn the phone off and music will continue to play.

Thanks for the quick reply, Seppi. Just to clarify, in this case I'm talking about using the Tidal app (which can play music itself and output to the phone's speaker), rather than the BluOS one. But, yes, I can see for myself that the same applies here, as I turned the phone off and the music carried on.

Yes, the Tidal App. Same applies to Spotify using its connect feature.
