Not a question, but a request: Until I can use Ethernet, I'd like robust WiFi.
AnsweredI didn't see a way to leave a request elsewhere, so it winds up here.
Of all my WiFi-enabled devices in the house, my PowerNode is the only one that drops its connection to my home's router.
This is confirmed with both desktop and mobile apps. You can't "add a player' when the player is not findable.
Sometimes happens 2-3 times a week, sometimes 2-3 times a month.
Works great as a standalone piece of gear but the networking remains weak. Yes I am on current firmware. Restarting the Powernode by yanking the power cord for a second is always the fix. I don't need to touch my router because doing so is irrelevant.

Hi Dave, try power cycling the Router next time it happens and see your PowerNode reconnects
Wi-Fi signal strength is worth looking at, please see the support document below to compare yours

Did you try making a DHCP reservation for the Powernode in your router? This often helps making things more stable.

I agree with Alain DW, DHCP reservations are essential as otherwise routers can randomly re-assign local IP addresses.
Plus: Not the answer you may want but since I upgraded my WiFi with the addition of a robust wireless mesh system I have had 0 issues with Bluesound connections.

Admittedly, I also make use of a (cheap) wifi repeater to enhance the signal to my Node (ethernet from repeater to Node). Makes configuration a bit more complicated but works a charm, zero dropouts and solid like a rock.

Hi, just to reiterate something I stated, "You can't 'add a player' when the player is not findable."
The mobile app will automatically offer to "add a player" when it sees none. It assumes you just bought a new Bluesound and need to establish it, fine. It accomplishes that by using a temporary, ad hoc WiFi connection directly to the unit.
If an iPhone's Settings cannot see the Powernode in its WiFi list it's because the unit's WiFi has gone dark without provocation. We're talking about only a distance of a few feet, yes? There's no way to recycle or reactivate that without forcing a hard reboot.
Again, the signal from my router is irrelevant because it cannot force any device to make itself known to the network.

Hi Dave
This implies there is a local networking issues. Only Bluesound support will be able to diagnose so strongly suggest you work directly with them rather than the community forum. Restarting the Router and / or making changes to its config is very relevant.

Hi Seppi,
Yes, I will be fascinated to learn from Bluesound support how configuring a router is relevant for ad hoc networks it is not a part of.

Bluesound is not designed to work with ad hoc networks and requires a router but not an internet connection
