Which external drives work with node 2i?

    From this article, one can conclude that a maximum power draw between 0.5 to 1.0 A is a maximum to get reliable performance:  https://support1.bluesound.com/hc/en-us/articles/201103128-Connecting-Underpowered-USB-Storage-Devices-to-Bluesound-Players

    Less is better, make your selection based upon these values. Every known brand will work, but lifespan may vary, look for high numbers write/read cycles.

  • Pinot Gris

    Toshiba HDTB330, a 3TB 2.5" HDD rated at 5V DC 1.0A works fine. Note 5V 1A happens to be the limit specified for Node 2i.
    Tried several 256GB SSDs, some rated >5W, all worked.
    Note you can also use ext4 filesystem.

    Edit: I cannot recommend using anything above the 5W maximum specification of the Node 2i, as this might prematurely age the unit's PSU.

    I have been using a Samsung T7 1tb ssd for a couple of years with my Node N130 without any problems.
