UTF-8 characters displayed incorrectly on NAD C 700 V2

When playing tracks or streams with non-English (UTF-8) characters, they are incorrectly decoded/displayed on the screen of the device.

  I have experienced this too with my c399. Japanese characters and emoji seem to not be supported either.
