Node X usb output crackles like an old vinyl

Have had Node X for a year and a half, mostly OK so far but...

trying to connect an external DAC (Topping DA III) using USB out from Node X, resulting sound crackles like an old vinyl record. I have tried 2 or 3 different cables... no difference.

Topping DAC is not the culprit; works fine with all USB feeds I could find (iPhone, iPad, ThinkPad, etc.). I have to use this output....

  It is in fact your third party DAC. If you review the documentation of the DAC, it is designed to be used to connect to a personal computer and does suggest in many Audio Stream I/O cases, it requires the installation of a driver on your PC.

  Bluesound Players are finished good products and are designed to work in full audiophile environments. Your 3rd Party DAC does however offer SPDIF in via COAX or TOS Link. Please use those.
