Stereo pair with an old Pulse 2 and new Pulse 2i

Question: I have an original Pulse 2 and wondering if there were thoughts/opinions if the older speaker would balance OK as a stereo L-R pair with the current Pulse 2i?

I'm aware there are significant differences between the two speakers however don't what this means in terms of actual sound quality, function and volume. My other option is to purchase a stereo Flex pair on the same budget and be assured that both sides are balanced.
