Bluesound Node N130 does not separate USB library from the wired one
AnsweredHello,
I'm using two different libraries - one wired from my ethernet cable and second from the USB HD. Unfortunatelly, the USB library is merged into the wired one. Plugging the USB HD in, I do not get any pop-up as suggested in your instructions https://support.bluos.net/hc/en-us/articles/360037137354 I have learned from different posts that this happens after the last firmware upade (to v. 4)
Please how to fix it on order to be in position to select separately both libraries sources?
Subsidiary question: Does the USB sharing work with a SSD HD? Are there any material restriction regarding the USB HD ?
Thank you for your help.

My update after 2 months:
- USB share access OK
- Firmware version: 4.8.7
- using a SSD HD with about 108 GB of music in //USB/music/individual folders-for-each-album, mostly coded with Apple Lossless, 44.1 kHz, 16 bits
- Library re-indexed
Issue: After opening the BluOS application in my iPhone, the Library is empty, no CD artworks are shown - more precisely, it appears from Music Sources - USB as follows:
- Artistes - empty
- Albums - empty
For both above, at the very beginning, the system is looking for CD artworks (see picture below) and after 2 seconds gets an empty screen.
- Music pieces, Gender, Composers, - OK; individual CD artworks appears
- Folder //USB/music - OK, individual CD artworks appears
However, at each switch on of the BluOS, the pop-up of the CD artworks takes more than 10 minutes and appears progressively (so the music access is not directly available after switching on). Also, I would prefer having a direct access from the first Album option (see above) and not to go deeper in the hierarchy.
@ Tony: any help, please, to improve it ?

zden, just another user here. Have you tried using another USB device such as a memory stick? It just needs to be large enough to take a few albums to test.
Reading your opening post you ask about the HD restrictions, there are limits with the amount of power the USB port can supply and it’s possible the SSD drive you are using is drawing too much current. I understand that the N130 NODE’s USB port is rated at 1A.

Hi Seppi. Thanks for your suggestion. I have tested 2 GB USB stick with 3 music albums and it worked.
I do not know which my 1 TB SSD HD LaCie has as USB power, but apparently this might be the key. For the entire music library, I have tested another 500 GB HD (not SSD) but the result is the same as with the SSD one. I wonder if this is due to the library volume or if BluOS is built up for an external HD or for the USB stick only (which, of cause, cannot contain o 100 GB volume library).

There is a support document here about power and USB devices…
https://support1.bluesound.com/hc/en-us/articles/201103128-Connecting-Underpowered-USB-Storage-Devices-to-Bluesound-PlayersI would copy everything onto the USB memory stick and see how that fairs, appreciate it might take a while.

Have you verified if the USB data cable you use to connect the HDD/SSD to the Node is not faulty?
For reference, I have used a 3TB HDD rated at 1.0A @ 5.0V and a SSD 1.6A @ 3.3V in a housing without any issues.

I have bought a new USB stick 256 GB and transferred all the music library to. It works, but when switched on, the pop-up of the data takes several minutes to appear. The longest is the album artwork from the highest access level. I can live with. I will revert if I have a further founding.
Thanks to both for your help.
