Alternate Iphone App controller for Node

Hi ALL, due to the continual unreliability of the Bluos Controller app, (currently deleting and reinstalling up to 5 x per week), I'm seeking advice on alternative, open source apps, that will control the Node. I predominantly use the Node to stream from my NAS and internet radio. Spotify is used sporadically but thankfully, streams through the Node without requiring Bluos app connectivity. Any help would be most appreciated, I'm so over this fragmented use. Many thanks!

    BluOS is a closed system and does not support other third party architectures such as Yamaha.

    That being said the BluOS App is simply a remote control. Deleting and reinstalling it has zero affect on play back as all controls are actually from the player. Based on your symptoms either your phone or tablet is not connected to your wifi or does not have local access turned on. That or your router is blocking traffic from the App.

    Either can be diagnosed and troubleshot by our Support Crew at support@bluesound.com.

    Hi Andy

    This is not what to expect from the BluOS App, as another user I have never had to delete the App in a good 10 years. I use the Bluesound RC1 to great effect as it’s instant and you can have 10 presets configured all without having to use a phone / tablet.

    Just some random thoughts…

    Check your router settings to ensure Multicast (mDNS) traffic is allowed. Also see if there is a setting that says IGMP Snooping or IGM Proxy... turn it on.

    In the iOS Settings, ensure under Apps that Local Network support is enabled for the BluOS App

    Any VPNs configured?

    Again in iOS setting, resetting the network settings can help on many levels.

    Beyond that in the BluOS App please select Settings, Send Support Request, so the Bluesound Support Crew can review the log file and take a closer look. If you cannot do this then use email support@bluesound.com

    Hi Seppi,

    Thanks so much for the prompt reply and suggestions.

    The RC1 really is of little use to me - I like to continually browse albums and tracks, collating playlist "on the fly". RC1 is more of an old school PLAY/FFD/RWD, volume control type remote.

    I'm not having much luck with the other suggested changes.

    Or, is there another app already developed that can work with the Node with minimal changes? Yamaha's Music Cast for instance?
