Connecting an AudioEngine speaker to a Vault 2i
AnsweredI have a Vault 2i connected to 2 Flex 2i speakers configured as a stereo pair. They work nicely together in our lounge. In another room I have an AudioEngine bluetooth speaker which I would like to play to from the Vault. It should be possible -- the support team have pointed me to a document detailing the procedure, but despite repeated efforts I can't get it to work.
The procedure is to make sure the AudioEngine is visible and connected in the list of Bluetooth devices on my phone, then open the BluOs app and click + to add the AudioEngine. However, after searching for new devices, the app tells me to make sure the AudioEngine is visible and connected on my phone then return to the BluOs app.
This seems to be an endless loop that I can't break out of. The AudioEngine will play when connected to another device so I know it's working fine. Any advice on what I'm doing wrong or suggestions to try other approaches would be welcome.

Don’t connect your phone to AudioEngine speaker via BT, if the phone is connected the VAULT won’t be able to. Do make sure it’s visible and in paring mode.
Now you should be able to pair using the BluOS app, I normally play some music first and the connect to a BT device. BT can be a bit awkward so do try again especially after powercycling both the VAULT and AE speakers.
Moving them closer together even if just temporarily.

Not sure I understand, sorry! My phone is connected via wifi to our router (which is BT) and the Vault is connected to the router via an extender (ethernet from Vault to mains, mains to router ethernet port) so everything should be on the same wifi network. I tried moving the AudioEngine into the same room but that didn't work. I suspect there's something here I'm not understanding :-( there usually is!

The phone plays no part part from the fact it runs the BluOS app which is only like a remote control.
Do not connect the AE speakers via Bluetooth to the phone.
Play some music on the Vault, then continue to use the BluOS app to connect the AE speakers.
Pretend your speakers are headphones and follow the support document below

Thanks for your patience. I've made sure the AE speakers are showing as disconnected under Bluetooth on the phone. I've then followed the document to connect as headphones. Under 'Devices' it shows my two Flex speakers and something "0022:d9:1bc7" and the search status is cycling perpetually. If I click the context menu for that device the options are 'disconnect' and 'forget'. Seems to be getting closer ...

Do try powering off the Vault and AE speakers for five minutes and try again, moving them closer together just for testing would still be good.
If no joy continue working with support.

Hello Seppi,
It works! Turned them both off for 5 minutes, moved them closer together, went via the 'connect headphones' route, the AE showed up and could then play to it. It still works when I moved it back to the other room.
Again, thanks for your time and patience.
Best wishes.
