Node Icon
AnsweredHits a sweet spot. I note the PC input and balanced outs. Sorry it lacks a phono stage but still it looks like a winner.

Yes, agreed. Looks like a nice product. NODE updates are nice as well with DSD support and upgraded DAC.

Ditto, the ICON is a very interesting BluOS device. The NODE NANO at £299 is a great entry price and certainly all quite a few would ever need or even for multiple second systems.

Icon definitely has my interest. I've been looking at an Eversolo DMP-A8 to replace my Node2i+pre-amp combo so that I can have something with balanced outputs (to go to my active loudspeakers) and analog input (for turntable). If Icon has good sound quality and I can stay in the BluOS ecosystem, plus get Dirac, that's a great combo. At half the price of the Eversolo we'll see how it delivers, so looking forward to finding out more later this year!

Will the icon connect straight to a power amplifier, like the nad c298, or would a pre amp be needed

Like all existing NODE models, the NODE ICON is a pre-amp. the NAC C 298 is a fine choice and perfect for this purpose.

Will the icon be completely neutral(transparent) in sound, or will it add something extra, warmth or body to the sound?

Would a full pre amp like the nad c658. Work better than the upcoming node icon?

With a power amplifier (c298)

Powernode Icon, if there is ever one, will be a world-beater and put NAD M10 out of business.
