Bluesound "Native" Spotify control
AnsweredI read a couple of other posts where some users had requested presets for Spotify playlists, but when will you add "NATIVE" Spotify control to the BluOS (iOS) app?
I read your comment that many people "like" to have the control through Spotify and simply use Bluesound as a Spotify Connect device, but that is a very weak answer in my opinion. Sonos offers the ability to do both (direct App access to Spotify playlists, etc., as well as Spotify Connect).
The tremendously stupid move by Sonos to push a major rewrite of their app without offering a parallel beta until ready for prime time has caused a lot of people to look for other options.
The ownership of the enterprise where I'm the CIO is heavily leveraged in Sonos, and I'm having them consider a migration to Bluesound. Many users find it very difficult to use multiple streaming service UI's, and this is where Sonos excels. Sonos uses only ONE app from which to control all their streaming services such as Spotify, Amazon, Qobuz, and Sirius XM. Bluesound needs to be able to do the same. This would allow them to gain huge market share with very little effort, especially when we see that Sonos continues to twist in the wind (instead of reverting to the previous S2 app and offering a parallel app like they did with S1 and S2).
Bluesound doesn't realize that there is a significant opportunity to capitalize on a mass migration of users from Sonos and become "mainstream," but to do so, Bluesound MUST give users the ability to control ALL their music sources from within their same app UI. Until then, it seems that Bluesound may remain relegated to an option mostly for audiophiles.
Best regards.

Hi Vito, as mentioned in several other threads, Spotify doesn't offer 3rd party integration APIs any longer. So this is a conscious restriction by Spotify and not a limitation of Bluesound. I suspect Sonos continues to have special status on this one as it does have in-app integration. Same for Apple Music. I am not sure what chance Bluesound would have to negotiate something like this and whether the effort would be worth it.
I see your point regarding a single place to access all services, however this is rather difficult to achieve in a consistent manner since every service offers a slightly different way of integrating. Also, in-app integration always tends to be behind in functionality and richness of experience compared to the native app experience. I suspect most users have one primary service they use so dealing with multiple streaming service UIs is probably not much of an issue.
