Oauth token loss is a hardware issue ???

I've just had the support team tell me that the reason my node 2i loses its oauth token to tidal is because of hardware failure, really?? That sounds bizarre to me - anyone got any thoughts as to how a hardware failure could cause that ?? It doesn't lose any other data. My theory is they simply don't recognise when the oauth token has timed out and therefore don't refresh it correctly. Thanks for any thoughts ( I guess no ones ever seen the code for this ?
