Dual Powernodes in stereo pair

Whilst you can configure the POWERNODE in a stereo pair to output either stereo, Left or Right there is no means of increasing the power out to one single channel. This however is something that can be done with some BluOS enabled NAD hardware.

Also the NAD C 389 produces 130w per channel continuously and is the same price in the UK with the BluOS module as two Bluesound POWERNODES.

Hi Seppi, thanks for the quick response. I forgot to mention that I already own one Powernode and am toying with the idea of adding a second so that I don't have to trail cables around my fireplace.

Hi Rob, I always end up with a fireplace that gets in the way of running speaker cables so a second POWERNODE would certainly make life easier but an awfully expensive way to do it. Company called D-Line in the UK make very small unobtrusive trunking and I have used this when the wife’s been out the house and she never noticed.

If handy with a soldering iron you could look at modifying the speakers to be bi-wire or alternatively sell them and getting speakers that are much easier to drive would be my route.

    Could two powernodes work properly?

This is a rather different configuration than a pre-amp with two monoblocks, where everything is connected electronically.

However, two powernodes communicate over the LAN, which by the nature of networking might cause the left and right Powernode to be out of sync. AFAIK the human ear/brain is very sensitive to L-R channels being out of sync.

Whilst not done with POWERNODES, using Bluesound speakers devices as a stereo pair are in as far as I can tell in perfect sync.

    Hi Gerben

This is the exact reason BluOS has it down to 100ths of a millisecond. We are confident two POWERNODES will stay in perfect sync when stereo-paired. Please feel free to purchase with confidence.

    Hi Tony,

That is impressive, great to know.

However, please note it is Rob who is considering this setup, not me. I was merely wondering if it would work reliably.

But even if BluOS would have it down to a single nanosecond, I would not consider getting any further NAD or Bluesound equipment. Not until BluOS gets their act together and fixes the long list of annoying bugs. IMHO the UX of BluOS is at its lowest level in the years I have been using it.

    Hi Gerben

Thanks for the feedback, I have asked a Support Crew Specialist to reach out to you. They will be in touch via e-mail.

Thanks for confirming. If I was to run each speaker with a separate Powernode, should anything be done with the unused speaker terminals on the amps or can they just be left alone?
