Latest FW update broke "Analog Bypass" mode on the C658
AnsweredHi
After updating FW to latest v4.4.11 I'm experiencing the following issues:
1. "Analog Bypass" mode which used to be a source-specific setting has now become a global setting.
2. "Analog Bypass" has no effect whether turned on or off when Dirac is set to ON.
3. Setting Dirac to off reduces the volume level by about 10dB.
I need the "Analog bypass" to be activated for Line-1 analog with "fixed volume" so Line 1 can be used as an HT bypass alternative (pre-out from AVR to Line-1 and pre-outs from C658 to external power amps). I can no longer use my HT setup since the last FW update.
How do I downgrade to the previous FW as a temporary solution?
Thanks
Edit: This is mainly a Dirac issue. when Dirac is off, volume reduces but analog bypass functionality resumes. Also, sound on digital inputs is distorted on hot tracks when Dirac is on, Subwoofer becomes very loud and boomy. Must revert to older FW ASAP until this is fixed.

Hi Eli,
We have extensively tested this feature with our NAD C658, and based on our findings, it seems that the Analog Bypass feature has always been set Globally. Furthermore, the owner's manual for the NAD C658 specifies that the Source Setup menu includes options such as Enable Source, Name, and Volume Control.

However, I will forward your feedback to our quality assurance team and engineering for future update consideration.

Thanks for the reply. It's my mistake. Analog bypass setting is globally available (accessible from any source) but only affects the 3 analog inputs, not the digital ones. When the buggy FW disabled Dirac and I noticed that analog bypass was set to on from a digital source, I assumed that it became a global setting just like a "pure direct" setting. But it is functioning as expected.
