Bass-heavy sound with minimal treble

I just got a Node and have connected it to my old Denon DRA-635 receiver (no digital input).  The sound from the Node is extremely bass heavy with minimal high notes.  (This doesn't happen when I play CDs - only when I'm streaming from the Node.)  I've tried using the bass and treble controls, but that only helps minimally.
