One thing you can try is to reverse the polarity of the mains plug, basically pull the fig 8 lead out the back of the EDGE and turn it 180 degrees.

If you have any other cables attached to the EDGE such as TV or CD player etc. do remove them for testing purposes. Also make sure no speaker cables run parallel to any mains leads.

Going further I personally would take the EDGE and speakers next door to my neighbour and see if it still occurs there or even back at the dealer if they are close by.

Probably have to wait for support to investigate.

    Thank you Seppi.

But reversing had no affect. Makes sense because it is not polarized. And there is nothing plugged into it. It is strictly for streaming only.

Can't take it to a neighbor. And I can't take it to the dealer because I bought it online.

    Thank you though,
    Bill

Hi Bill, correct AC does not have a polarity but the flow direction can have a difference on some circuits as does DC on the mains supply, hence the suggestion to try the lead the other way. DC is the killer as it can make toroidal transformers buzz like mad!

It was worth a try while you wait for support.

Hi Bill, I don't know if you've already got an answer elsewhere, but I'm in part writing this reply for others with the same problem to read.

I too encountered this yesterday when moving my Edge from one speaker system to another. It had been working as it should where it was connected up until yesterday. With the new speakers, I had a loud and constant noise from both speakers. I would describe it as white noise. At first I thought the Edge was broken, but after measuring the new speakers I knew what was the problem. They had a highly capacitive and complex impedance which the Edge didn't play well with.

You might say that it can't handle complex speaker loads is a design flaw in the Blusound Edge, but my speakers presented a difficult load I'll admit - alltough all the other amplifiers I have used them with worked fine. My speakers are DIY built, and I had to change the crossover somewhat - that solved the problem for me. I read your speakers are the Polk XT20. Erin measured them over at Erins Audio Corner . Their impedance curve seems pretty standard to me, but it might be that they present a capacitive load above the audio band (that does not show up in the measured curve). I think you have to simply accept that the Edge won't work properly with the Polk XT20 and use a different pair of speakers (or swap the Edge out for another streaming amplifier solution).

    Best luck to you!

    Kent
