Node Optical Input keeps spinning since upgrade to latest BluOS 4.2.10
AnsweredI used to have optical input issues on blusound node 2, then they stopped and it was working fine, but now again for the last few months the optical input is not working. The circle around play traingle for Optical Input keeps spinning. I have read and tried everything:
- restarted PC and Bluesound
- reinstalled drivers on my PC
- replaced TOSLINk cable
- switched between inputs
Nothing fixes the issue. Frankly I am tired of reading the same messages and the mentions of opening support tickets. My question to bluesound is "Don't you enough support tickets already for the exact same issue?"
I give up. Finally I am dumpiung my bluesound for another device. Adios Bluesound and good luck building a business by hiring bad developers/enginers who can not figure out how to solve a simple problem. There are literally hundreds of messages about this and you cannot fix this.

I am here to proivide an update since my last post above. I tried a few different toslink cables and when I used a FosPower cable the optical input started working. Switching it back and forth between Roon and Optical input works seanlessly. It is a new cable.
So maybe my frustration with BlueSound was unjustified in this case. I have changed 2 things whcih I believe ultimately fixed the issue. (1) The standard MIcrospft drivers for optical input were not enough. I had to install the Sound Blaster Recon 3di drivers. You will need to get the drivers specific to your mobo or card (2) Switching the cable.
Lessons from this (1) do not believe the hype about 25 year lifespan for optical cables (2) Do not believe "if you can see the light at the other end of the cable it is working" (3) Try all the steps and eliminate all possibilities
Now I will see if this stays working after I have restarted my computer a few times. Hope this helps.

Hi Bobby
Glad to hear you were able to resolve the issue and yes not all Optical Cables are alike.
Thanks for the kind words and for #LivingHiFi

Another quick update. The new setup is working as expected. No issues at all. Learnt one more thing, never buy an optical cable with a right angled conenctor at the end. They seem to develop faults much quicker. Always buy cables with straight connectors. Just sharing my experience.
