Send bass to rear/surround speakers in home cinema group?
AnsweredWhen using two powernodes with HDMI ARC to establish a 4.0 setup with 2 fronts and 2 rears is there any way to have the bass output via rears rather than fronts (or what is default behaviour)?
The reason for wanting to do this is that my front speakers (DALI Opticon 1's) only have 4.75 inch drivers whereas the rears (DALI Phanton E-60's) have 6.5 inch.
I know I can add a sub to the primary powernode, but I was looking at trying to avoid this if possible. This is for daily TV watching, not a dedicated cinema room.

Hi Dan
This is not possible as the DOLBY decoding process will send the discreet rear channels only and cannot be altered. A subwoofer is your bet option.

I'm thinking of getting a second powernode to set up surround sound. With the powernode for the rear speakers, are they high passed at the same frequency as the front channels (my fronts are bookshelf speakers plus SVS subwoofer crossed at 100Hz). Or do the rears simply receive a full range signal, or perhaps a THX type 80Hz crossover default. Or can you actually set the crossover with the rear channels powernode like you can with the front channels powernode?
