Hi guys can you give an update on when you will fix the local share issue. Yes I see the network share workaround but that doesn’t resolve the local share issue that doesn’t work. I recommended Bluesound to my company and we bought the product so a normal user can use it without figuring out network shares, many thanks Seamus

I am also having trouble with this.  I sent in a support request to get help but have not received help.  The instructions provided in the linked article do not work for me and I have not been able to connect to my laptop as Local Share or as a Network Share.

Yes it’s frustrating you would think a big company like B lueSound would fix this. I spent a lot of time learning blueOs then a firmware update breaks local shares why would one buy this product.

OK i'd try to help you but i wonder what you are doing?
What do you think a 'local' share is vs a 'network' share?
    1) All 'shares' are treated the same by the os.
    2) Are you trying to connect the controller app to the share? It doesn't work that way...

Quite simple on window 10 pc open BluOS controller app. Go to settings…music library….local shares….add folder… click browse….select music folder…this is where it goes wrong…it just shoes C …used to shoe actual folder…I selected…follow prompts gives…gives share must be in the form of url….

The thing is this should work..it doesn’t…the function used to work… my work colleague should not need to play around with shares or network shares …it should be a case of browsing to the folder select authenticate…job done…

What I am trying to do is play music that is strored on my laptop as I used to be able to do before the update.  I am using "Add Network Share" as Bluesound Support recommended after I tried using "Add Local Share" without success.  I am typing in \\198.168.2.91\Music.  But nothing happens.  It doesn't even try to find it, or give me any kind of message or signal about what is happening.

I'm still running 3.20 so I can't reproduce this but I can't see this working unless you are connecting using bluetooth. There is no magic.

    1) Local share still not working

    2) Network share used as by pass is cumbersome and implies to change network setings, moreover is is not stable and stopped working within a couple of month.

Is it that complex to read a local file ?

All readers do it well, without the creation of an additional user, without changing the network setting.

It can be depending on the security around the local file as Windows and Apple try to make your PC secure from intrusions. Please feel free to select Settings, Send Support Request in the BluOS App and our Support Crew can help you out.
