How can two Nodes (N130) sound so different?

A friend of mine and I compared our Nodes (N130) side by side. We paired the two and listened to all kinds of music (via Tidal-connect), while switching between the two. Both in default-settings via app.
It was like listening to two different brands of loudspeakers, such a big difference. Mine had definitely stronger mids, while his was stronger in highs and bass. Not saying which one was better. Depends on music and taste. We changed from wifi to ethernet (on the same switch), we interchanged interlinks, amplifier inputs, powercables and even position. That did not make a difference.
Mine has been purchased December 2021, while he purchased his in Januari 2023. Mine has serialnumber starting with K217 and his K226. Opening both nodes we saw that the older Node has a piggyback circuit (digital processor???) with versionnr 1.1 and the newer one 1.3. No further differences visable.
Question is how can these two nodes sound so different? Another question is of course: Did anyone els notice differences in the sound of Nodes N130.?
