I am ripping all my CD's and now have had 3 repeats of the following: the CD's get ripped, but at some (unpredictable) point, their encoding stops. The WAV files keep piling up in the rips folder, but no encoding happens anymore. To get the vault to encode again, one has to throw away the rips folder and reboot the Vault. Worse: saving the ripped WAV file is pointless, as Bluesound does not offer manual encoding! Software that fails is common, though failing without an alert and without a way to recover is really poor.
Also, I find it beyond belief that Bluesound offers no decent backup method. The one they have encodes the backupped files in a format that only Bluesound can read (!). Dragging and dropping files is not an option over a wifi, as it takes weeks (!) once you have an average collection of files.
Bottom line: the Bluesound Vault software is clearly not ready for prime time. I would not have bought the product if I knew they are locking me into their proprietary formats through backup. And I would not have bought it either if I knew I was going to waste many hours re-doing rips.
