Vault 2i noise when not In use

Just bought a New Vault 2i. Ripped a couple of cds and all was fine. Came back after an hour or so and noticed that the unit is making a fan noise or something that I can hear across the room. The unit is not ripping or steaming and there is no cd inside. Is this normal?

    The VAULT does contain a hard disk drive, a mechanical device that spins. Perhaps try moving it very slightly as it may be resonating on the shelf / cupboard it sits on?

    Ok. I’ll try that, but why would it be moving when it is not in use? I understand that it might make some sounds while in use but not in standby. Have I understood the Vault product wrong is it something that should not be in the listening area but it some cubboard with the router and other network gear?

    You misunderstood what I was saying… some furniture surfaces / equipment positioning can make a small noise sound very loud. Bluesound equipment it always on but does go into a lower power mode.

    Sorry if I was unclear and yes I did understand what you meant but my question is that is it really possible that the unit makes very audible noise in standby mode or is there something wrong with my unit and should I return it?

    If unsure about the noise you could log a support ticket or have a chat with your dealer which is probably the route I would take if the unit is brand new.
