Bluesound node 3 with external DAC via USB
AnsweredDear all,
I would like to ask a fast question. I would like to buy the Bluesound Node 3 and use it as a streamer. I would like to connect it to an external DAC, the Marantz HD-DAC1.
This DAC has some sentimental value to me, and I would not like to get rid of it. I have read that the Bluesound Node 3 counts with an USB digital output that could be plugged into my DAC.
I would like to ask you if there may be any incompatibility between these two devices when using the USB port.
As i have mentioned, the DAC has some sentimental value to me (despite knowing that there are other options in the market).
Thank you very much.

Looking at the Marantz website it says the USB port is for connecting a computer rather than a streamer, so it possibly won’t work via USB. The DAC does have other digital inputs which will work without issue, the HD-DAC1 does not support MQA so make sure you don’t try and play this format.

Dear Seppi,
thank you for your fast response. I naively thought that the USB input in my Marantz DAC would accept any source.
I think that I will ask the staff at my shop if they allow me to test it before the purchase. In case it does not, I guess I can use the coaxial connection, right?Sincerely,

Yes, using coaxial would be perfect if USB won’t work.
