SSD for local lib w/o re-indexing? (PNEdge, BluOS 4.0)
AnsweredRe: SSD stored local library with Powernode Edge: I understand from your website that if my local library (in FLAC or WAV format) is stored on a USB SSD, I can access it through the USB input on the rear of the device. If I am using the new BluOS 4.0 server mode enable function, does the local library still need to be re-indexed every time the unit is powered on? (in other words, can I conveniently use a permanently attached SSD now instead of a NAS?). Thanks!

Hi Patrick
Bluesound Players are always on, always ready IoT appliances and not designed to be turned on and off. Doing so will age your power supply unnecessary. Note that your POWERNODE Edge will go into a low power mode if idle for 15 minutes and consume less than 3W as required by EU Law.
That being said, yes. When server mode is enabled, your USB index is not in volatile RAM but stored. You will have to reindex it though if you remove it to add more music then re-attach it.
