    Hi Paul

I have confirmed with our engineering team that bluesound:// will launch the App in both iOS and Android.

Was this ever implemented? I'm looking to buy a Node 2 but not if I can't control it via my iRule set up.

    Thanks.

You can get to the Bluesound app, but there is no return path. Unlike HEOS, onkyo, autonomic, and many others. Now with autonomic, I got it to open inside my BitWise Controls app. This allowed me to operate my receivers volume. This reduced my clients dealing with dual volumes, and dual volume controls, which is not foreign to us integrators. But to our clients is very foreign, it’s confusing. We sell, install, and program an iPhone/iPad control system for 98% of systems we install to make it easy for the client to use. IPhone/IPad control systems are somewhat expensive and should have access to features that allow customizing the experience, ie MAKE BETTER! Who stands in front of thier system to set the volume control on the receiver? Unfortunately my clients have to verify the Bluesound is at an appropriate volume level setting, or there could be distortion.

i did not spec the Bluesound, a freind of the clients spec’d it, thank God it wasn’t me. I only spec components I have researched deeply. I would not like to have to explain why I picked Bluesound, if it could have been done better (seemlessly) with another brand.  Needless to say, after the install I thought, no problem. But when I got to the Programming I was very disappointed in the lack of integration

  • Hi AudioGuy

iOS automatically has the return option in the top left corner for all Apps.

To be clear, I want it to be known (at least my experience so far) that Bluesound does have the ability via URL Scheme to jump from your control system (providing your control system has URL Scheme Support) to the Bluesound App. If you have more than one Bluesound product in the same network you will have access to them as well. What I have bbeen  able to do, is get back to my control system, via the Bluesound URL Scheme. So it’s essentially half of what I need to keep it simple for my clients. Without the back feature, it’s klunky at best. Having two streamers in the same network (using a control system) takes klunky to a higher level. It doesn’t seem like there are not many integrators using a URL Scheme to enter and exit the Bluesound app. As an integrator I can totally appreciate that. If your client sees what a difference a good URL Scheme adds to seemless control, he/she is going to want it. Hopefully your client will not be comparing his system to friends that has Uses URL Schemes. I got a phone call today from an 80yr old female Client who was having a problem with her Bluray, no sound. She said, and I quote “I get no sound on Bluray, but operating my home theater, master bedroom, and kitchen TVs are SEEMLESS”. After solving the Blu-ray problem, she asked if she could pay me. Pay me? After her beatiful unsolicited compliment? I told her no! it’s on the house! To which she replied, Can I refer some clients to you? I didn’t say it, but I was thinking, where is my checkbook-I SHOULD PAY HER. The thought of this 80 year old woman as being the perfect billboard advertisement for intuitive system control. “No cue cards needed”. I have strived for many years to get my control systems to be both intuitive and SEEMLESS and she proved it paid off. It took only 15-20 minutes of educating her on system operation. I went over it once, then I handed her the iPad and told her to go to each source one at a time, and shut it down, then asker her questions like. How do you turn on Apple TV? Do you know how to control it? Once she proved she understood, my job was complete. That was the first time she called me for anything since her install and Programming was complete, about two years ago. She don’t know it, but my Smile over her compliment will last much longer, than her smile, over the money she saved on the service call. I do like the Bluesound products. I’m hoping they can incorporate a URL return, and some additional aids for a more SEEMLESS user experience.

  • Thanks for sharing AudioGuy - this is a great story. That being said, with regards to URL schema, it is difficult to return where you came from if you are unsure how you got there. Apple rightfully builds it into their iOS but the klunkyness you experience in Android or other operating systems, is unless their is a back button bread crumb the App is unsure where it started.

We continue to look at options and feedback such as yours as ways to improve that experience as your story makes us smile too...

    Good afternoon!
This topic is already 5 years old. But it remains relevant. Or maybe I just have not found the required information. There is a URL scheme bluesound: //.
But has no URL return. I'd love to be able to call bluesound with the pre-selected players, which is located in a given room. I would be very grateful for any advice. I hope that audioguy01 svom share experiences.
    Thank you, Alexander
