Trying to eliminate Vault2; options?
AnsweredI have a Powernode 2i, PulseFlex 2 and Vault 2 (playing through Focal speakers). I have about 200 CDs loaded on the Vault, and likely will not be adding more; I'll just download / stream any new music.
I'd like to eliminate the Vault, and have loaded all the CD files onto Apple Music, a thumb drive, and a Passport Mac storage 2TB device.
I read on this site that the thumb drive inserted into the Powernode may not always be stable. So far I cannot get the Powernode to play using the Passport (it needs a password). I could just play Apple Music, but the sound quality may not be as good given they are MP3 files, as opposed to FLAC.
I have a Mac Air, which doesn't have enough file storage for using it on Network Shares.
So am considering an NAS; any recommendations for an inexpensive one that works reliably? Or perhaps another option I am not considering?
Thanks.

Hi Thomas,
I've been using a thumb drive for many years, never a problem. With the added server mode feature (https://rb.gy/kje193) it's become even better. No need for an expensive nas.

KriHad, thanks for the information! I had unwittingly done this when testing the USB drive earlier, and was surprised to see that it shared the files similarly to the Vault. In the past you had to do extra steps to play stored songs on the Pulseflex.
So I guess the Vault will be put up for sale; anyone need one? :)
