High priced streamers vs the Node

I have noted that some dedicated streamers such as Linn and Lumin sell for in excess of $3000.  I have 2 nodes and am happy with their functionality but am curious how the "quality" of the output signal  from these higher end streamers is different from that of the node going into my high end dac.

  Quality is in the ears of the listener. Over the past decade I've changed DAC's, amplifiers and speakers several times seeking to improve the sound from my system. The sound is certainly different from when I started. I have 2 primary systems plus several wireless units. My current system # 1 is a NAD M33 with the DSD MDC module into Harbeth SHL5+ speakers and it is sublime. My #2 system is a NAD C658 into an Anthem amp with B&W CM5 speakers. Both systems sound good to my  ears. Linn and Lumin are great brands, perhaps you need to do some A/B testing at a dealer.
