What is the best way to connect my 2.i to a Mcintosh C2500 preamp?

  It depends on whether you want to use the DAC in the McIntosh or the Node 2i.

  RCA inputs would use the DAC on the Node 2i, optical TOSLINK will use the DAC on the 2500.

  If it has digital inputs, coaxial cable, in my opinion
