Node and Load Shedding...
AnsweredDear Bluesound, I have a Node streamer and I'm very happy with it. The big downside for me is that the device is alsways on. Forced standby gear is totally old fashion in these environmental vunerable times!
The lack of a powerbutton became even more problematic since I moved to South Africa. Load Shedding turns my Bluesound off at least once a day. To protect my Bluesound node: what is the best I can do? Put it in Holiday mode before the power cut or just leave in on? And: please give the new node a real ‘klick’ powerbutton!
Thanks!

Hi P-Bass
Your NODE is designed to be always on and always ready. Using vacation mode as an on/off switch will prematurely age the power supply. Rest assured, when idle for 15 minutes, your NODE does go into a low power mode on its own and meeting EU requirements for a network-ready appliance.

Thanks, but this is not the full answer I'm looking for. Load Shedding in South Africa means that there is no electricity at all. We live on candles, batteries and acoustic live music then. This happens almost every day. So my Node will daily be turned off. If I like it or not. What is your advise in this situation? Just let the Node go in low power mode before the power cut of use the vacation mode before the power cut? I take other stand by gear of the grid before load shedding. Maybe the Bluesound is simply not made for situations likes this... then I will use him till he dies and search for a streamer with powerbutton...

You can switch it off, when not playing. Then you won't experience power cuts and power surges.

Hi P-Bass
I don't have an answer for you and sorry to hear you are going through this. You are better off disconnecting power completely rather than using Vacation Mode. Your least obtrusive solution is likely a power bar with a switch on it...

To quote HL Mencken "For every complex problem there is an answer that is clear, simple, and wrong"
Hi Ray, he's complaining about the lack of a power switch.

Just pull the plug out of the wall socket, if there is not a switch. By switch it off, I meant the power.
As Tony says, disconnect the power.
