Tidal: Node 2i is passing 96 vs 192 to External DAC
I've loved the 2i since purchasing a few years ago and need help to enable Tidal Hi Res to pass 192 vs 96 via coax to Rotel RC-1590 Pre-amp used as an external DAC (non-MQA).
The Node will pass 192 (confirmed on Rotel main screen) when an external USB Stick is used but it doesn't pass Tidal Hi Res tracks that show 24/192. The node does pass 96 (confirmed on Rotel main screen) so the Tidal Hi Res setting is activated.
I've tried switching Audio clock trim setting off and on with no impact.
Thanks for your help.

Hi Marc
Short answer - MQA does not allow fully unfolded signals to be output digitally. All certified MQA decoders output 192kHz unfolded MQA via analog RCAs only. As a result, many don't have digital outputs - those that do, like the Node, have to make sure not to send fully decoded signals using those digital outputs.
Having said that - if you can wait a few weeks - your Node might be getting an update that will allow it to send full 192kHz FLAC to your AVR from Tidal via Coax. Best to practice your Yoda with this one, "patience, you must have, young Padawan"

That sounds very promising!

Thanks S. Looking forward to having Tidal pass native 192kHz Flac without MQA.
