Library - viewing content by Genre has changed with 4.0
AnsweredI have been tagging my music files (over 26k files on the NAS currently) consistently using only 10 different tags - Blues, Classical, Jazz, Opera etc - whenever I rip new music.
Now, after updating the controller yesterday, I had to re-index the library as all selections resulted in a sort of 'the file xxxxx does not exist in the selected location' error.
Reindexing ran very slow, and took perhaps 6 times as long as normal. After reindexing, when selecting Library music by Genre, I now have close to 100 genres. Not 10 as before, but 100. Most music files now appear in multiple genres.
Highly annoying when great effort has been spent on categorising music as I want it.
How can I fix this?

Hi Bo
No changes were made in the Indexing process so not sure what happened here.
Please purge and build a new index using Settings, Diagnostics, Rebuild Index from the Home Screen. If your Database does not rebuild how it was before, please select Settings, Send Support Request so our Support Crew may review your log file and understand why this may be different.

Forgot an example:
I tag eg 'Pop/Rock' - now the list include Classic Rock, Classic Pop-Rock, Country Rock, Electronic Rock, Hard Rock, Progressive Rock and so on....

Tony, thanks for a very quick response
I use the Controller on a Samsung mobile. In that app, I do not have 'Diagnostics, Rebuild Index'. I have Settings, Music Library, Reindex music collection. What are you referring to?
App doesn't have 'Settings, Send Support Request' either ??

Sounds like your App is not on v4.x but v3.x - in 3.x it is Help, Diagnostics... and Help, Send Support Request...

Ah. Roger. I'll do a full re-index and see if that helps.

Actually, the app 'about' lists the app version as 4.0.2 build 2820.....

Turned out the Share setting had changed. Used to be "seagate-xyz\public\HiRes Music" - after the update the \HiRes Music has disappeared. So everything in \public was now included in the indexing - not just the Hi Res music files. Fixed the share and after reindexing all was OK again.

Glad to hear Bo...
