All the functionality you are asking for is available now; https://support.bluos.net/hc/en-us/articles/360000204487

You are not alone! In fact there have been quite alot users voicing their concerns in the past few days (scattered over a couple of threads here). I too would love the old behaviour to return. Bluesound, please give us an option to configure the "one click behaviour". It can be that hard. I am a SW engineer myself so don't tell me it is ; ).

Tony W., i am getting tired of telling you that this is NOT THE POINT! I (and I am sure all the other folks as well!) am very aware of the option to add a song to the existing queue. The problem is that the queue gets emptied when simply clicking a song (without going through the tediously tiny three dots and clicking add last). It is a usability issue. People want the old behaviour back. It's that simple....

I have to agree with Neuromancer, I understand how it currently works it's just much worse than how it worked previously. It's very unintuitive to use now and seems to be designed to make you delete your play queue even when you don't want too!!

This is exactly my problem too, EVERY time you click on one new song the PLAY QUEUE gets deleted/reset. This is NOT what we want!
We just want the old behaviour back which was working perfectly in BluOS 3.

It seems that if you happen to hit the border between two songs, ie between two "three dot sections" on the right side, playback of one of those songs will be activated and the rest of the playlist will be deleted.
It doesn't matter how thorough you are...sooner or later you'll touch the line and then it's just a matter of starting over.
This needs to be fixed now!

Fully agree with this thread. And it isn’t just “nobody likes change.” Swapping the dot and play behaviour makes much more sense. Especially since you can easily clear the queue other ways if you want. There’s a lot that can be improved with blueOS but that doesn’t mean copying bad UX design from elsewhere. Focus instead on a much easier playlist management :)

Hope the changes are what many of us have been asking for over the last month!

The latest update of the windows controller seems to kill a bunch of bugs and is inching toward usable.

But one major issue is still there: the playqueue gets wiped if you don't pay special attention when adding tracks.

Is this "feature" really here to stay?? Or can we hope for a future update to remediate this? Are there any plans?

How are we to merge short playlists in a long one? (And I don't mean track by track!)

Make the controller better still please.

    Hi Alain

Yes, replace queue will remain the standard action. That being said, and I think I mentioned this to you in a different thread, the ability to use the context menus to piggyback or stack playlists into the queue will be added (restored) in the very near future.

I was relieved to hear that the stacking of playlists in the queue will be made possible.

But one thing that still bothers me in the new behaviour of the playlist management is the replacement or rather the deletion of the playing queue when adding a track by accident. Could we not have a switch like with the autofill feature to determine if the delete function is active? I think this solution will cater for every user of BluOS.

    Hello,
Just like Alain mentioned...a switch or similar to choose whether the feature should be active or not...that could be an example of a solution.
To the support team: focus on this and similar suggestions and don't go around them with other things.

Don't get me wrong, many good answers have been delivered but too many times the focus is not on the question.

Hi Tony, Am very disappointed to read that despite over whelming negative feedback, replace queue is being kept as the standard action with no discussion of even an option for any alternative. It's very unintuitive to use.
Why have a feedback forum if you just ignore ALL of the feedback?
You clearly just plough ahead with changes and couldn't care less if they ruin your customers user experience, who purchased their systems based on how the app worked at the time.

I fully agree with Musicfan on this one.
It shouldn't be something we need to discuss at all, as it is obvious that it is a stupid decision.

The way I see it, I don't think they can figure out how to give us the option to choose for ourselves and that's why they have removed the option.

Alain DW, I like your idea the best. Fantastic solution!

    Hi
I have just downloaded the latest version and the 'replace queue' functionality is still operating. Are you kidding me!!! How much negative feedback do you guys need to start taking us seriously?

  • Ned

Yep - nice stack of Xmas tunes lined up for the family. Accidentally forgot to navigate to the stupid … menue and wiped it all out. Ridiculous behaviour. Merry Christmas.

One suggestion I have used is to periodically save the queue to a playlist so you can get it back easily. I know it isn’t ideal, but better than starting from scratch.

Soul man - not a bad idea given the horrible UX. but of course in upgrade to V4.0 all my playlists were deleted!! So now we need to back up the queue and back up the playlist. Pretty poor.
I know at heart it’s an audio electronics company, not a software company. But all that means is that they need to hire the right tallent - for design spec and software testing.

I'd like to add my voice to the growing choir. The delete play queue / replace queue 'feature' is more like a bug to me. It should, at least, be just an option. I used to regularly try a bunch of music as I followed a thread, then revisit my choices. Now I can't.

When will Bluesound get rid of this horrible change?

  • Andrew Kinsella

Why isn't this fixed yet? Add to this the fact that if you shuffle your play queue it only shuffles the tracks after the current track and not everything you've queued and you've got one crappy interface that Spotify would be proud of. What's the best alternative to Bluesound for audio? I feel like sticking it out all out on eBay and starting again with another system.

  • Ned

@Andrew, it’s clear the main problem is also the bluesound benefit - they are utterly focussed on the audio & electronics. (Ok with a clear lapse on the pulse 2i). But that means they see the software as a thing to tack on to get to the music rather than an integral part of the system. Clearly they have no real UX experts on board or if so, product ownership doesn’t listen to them.
FYI a friend just chucked in his Sonos due to lack of backward hardware compatibility.

I’m having the same issue here and it is very frustrating indeed. With all due respect Bluesound; the reason your products sell so well in the first place is because of the app. I have upgraded to every Node since the first model and currently own a Node X all because it’s a great combination of sound and functionality. The thing is while the unit itself performs well above its price point, the value proposition is in the app. Your Node X PLUS a good external DAC PLUS your BluOS app sways many buyers from going to higher level streamers, because many of the competition higher level streamers have poorly navigable apps and are not as ergonomically intuitive as yours.. by not paying attention to always improving that ergonomic value you’re going to lose your audience. IMHO it would be a major oversight if you do not correct that play queue issue asap.

This is the kind of topic that will be still active 3 years from now. Face it people, Bluesound doesn't care. They develop things how they think it should work without listening to the community. They'll only fix urgent bugs like the whole crashing Vault debacle after 4.0. They don't care about the little nagging things users are complaining about. For this issue Tony's comment has been marked as "official answer" so don't expect any more communication from Bluesound on this. Maybe if you start a new topic :)

Folks we hear you. The new play queue is not going anywhere but we will put in an option (the developers call it builders mode currently) that will address the issue.  It will not be a "soon-ish" thing as we have a lot of focus on some other elements right now but it is planned.

Replace que is the only way to go, thank you for listening. Let those creating something use/learn the 3 dot menu.
