Grouping multiple stereo pairs
AnsweredHi,
I have purchased 4 Flex 2i 's . They are set up as two in the livingroom and two in the kitchen, both as stereo pairs.
Things work as expected running only the kitchen or livingroom, but behavior when combining rooms has not been super smooth. When I play in 1 room (Spotify connect) and combine the pairs to get music in the other room as well, playback stops. This may be as the name of the system changes, and spotify looses the association with the original room. Also, the new name no longer reflects the room pairs but an individual Flex + n set of mono units. Eventually, I would get music to play over all Flex 2i's, but it did not work as well as I'd like.
Is this the expected behavior? Can I use multi-room with two stereo pairs or only as 4x mono? Is there a way to add a room to a session without interrupting the playing music in the first room?

I thinks this is partly due to Spotify Connect and how the stream end point, gets interrupted / changed as you group additional rooms / speakers.
You might want to try a free trial with an Integrated BluOS service such as Amazon Music, Tidal, Deezer or Qobuz. They have similar priced plans but also the benefit of being at least CD quality or better and would not suffer this issue.

Thanks for your response.
It was my understanding that also Spotify Connect does not stream through, for example, a phone but directly connects between Spotify servers and BluOS players? How is Spotify not integrated like a Deezer or Tidal service? I would expect the largest streaming service to be well integrated as well.
Anyway, I have since tried grouping stereopairs while no music was playing, this did give the desired result (both rooms linked as stereo pairs). Having a SC session playing on one room when linking the other room seemed to interfere (the stereo pair in one room was messed up by this as well). I will tinker with it some more as I get to know the system.0 -
Yes Spotify only allow a “Connect” function to music streamers (with the exception of one manufacturer). Unfortunately this is what Spotify allows, and you are correct the phone does not stream the music, the App just tells the Spotify Servers where to send the music.
