I hope that the changes in version 4 aren’t just cosmetic

    Hi Stephen

Thanks for the feedback. BluOS 4.x does not change how existing external Libraries are stored via file-sharing...   ...yet.

What you are seeing has more to do with possible standard interop issues between BluOS and the OS where your files are stored. Can you please send us a log file be selecting Settings, Send Support Request from the Home page so our Support Crew can review what happened and reach out to you with some direct 1:1 troubleshooting.

    Thanks

According to the info ... WHAT’S NEW
Support for the 4.0 user interface and user customization.
Updated graphics and branding for streaming services.
Updated Play Queue logic when adding content for immediate playback.
Ability to use USB content for local Library.
Increased maximum group size to 60 Players

So BluOS 4 is just that, nothing. 60 players.. huzza. Its a crap update with no actual improvements except cosmetics.

Sadly no Andy - we cannot implement Music Services that do not have a working API to provide or are willing to expand into third-party devices. I spoke more about that here; https://support1.bluesound.com/hc/en-us/community/posts/5349221771031/comments/18075183572887

We keep knocking on their door though. You should too...

So a few things here - Roon uses a full PC with all of that power to use a full SQL database and a number of things associated with having the power to do that.  We use what we have in our own way.  YT music is entirely driven from their lack of wanting to add new partners.  We have a great relationship with Google and have discussed for over 4 years, but it is up to the YT folks.  From a global perspective this release is the first step in an updated back end to do more with over time, new ways to look at the application layers and so forth.  More to follow

I'll have to send you a log file tomorrow, because the re-indexingprocess

    > Windows/macOS - Rebuild Index

    1. In the BluOS Controller App, under the left Navigation Drawer, select Help > Diagnostics.
    2. Click Rebuild Index.

Would seem to have its usual four hours left to do.

I'm using the newest iMac, with the latest OS, with a Samsung t7 SSD. You really can't get more cutting edge for home use, than that, and surely you would allow that FOUR HOURS is an absolutely ridiculous amount of time for something Roon and Audirvana etc, can do inside two minutes. And surely you would also agree, it consequently makes BlueOS all but unusable.

8 minutes for 1000 songs, so 4 1/4 hours in all.

This is the result on my setup, using a NAS.

Rebuilding index with optimize artwork on, about 40 seconds for 1000 files.
Rebuilding index with optimize artwork off, about 20 seconds for 1000 files.
