Fixed output dangerous?
I have a Node X on trial and I'd like to hook it up to a Hypex ncore based power amp soon. In this scenario, we'd use the node (mainly through our iPhones) to control the volume. It's nice to be able to set a min/max output db, so swiping the volume slider will stay within a sensible range.
Now here's my concern: if I understand correctly, the 'fixed output' toggle (in settings) will maximize the output. Great if you have an integrated amp, but in my scenario this has the potential to damage 2500 euro speakers.
I find this setting way too easy to access and control, without a clear warning. My girlfriend may accidentally toggle it and have a heart attack... I'd like to see at least an alert dialog (are you sure you want to enable this? If you have a power amp, beware...).
Better yet, I'd like to lock the settings with a passcode. If I have friends/family over, they have access to my WiFi network. I'm fine with them changing the track that's playing, but I'd like to keep them out of these settings.
Summing it up, I have two feature requests:
- Add a confirmation dialog to the 'Fixed output' toggle, to prevent accidental damage.
- (Optionally) set a passcode to access/change the BluOS settings.

Your friends/family will need to install the BluOS app/controller for that to happen.

I know, and I'd even like to encourage them to do so, for practical reasons. To me, it's like sharing the remote of our tv, or giving access to the WiFi network, when we have guests staying over.
Just in case though, I'm happy that my network router has an admin password. I'd like something similar for the BluOS settings.
Others may have children, or a shared family iPad. To me it makes a lot of sense to not grant every user access to the settings by default. At least give the choice to set a passcode. Especially if a toggle there may inadvertedly blow up the speakers...
