Bad sound quality

Hello, i own node 3, yamaha as701 and dali oberon 7. When i use rca pre out sound is too bright, almost it is not audible when i open up volume and it is very annoying. When i use optical out it sounds very nice with yamahas dac. Is there any chance my node is faulty?

  Which input on the Yamaha are you using? Have you tried other line inputs?

  Probably best to use fixed output and then control the volume using the Yamaha’s controls.

  I use cd input and fixed output. I will change it now to line 1. Could this make a difference?

  Try a few combinations, I see there is a direct CD button on the amp, try using that as well.

  Direct cd sounds definitely better than pure direct with node. But still optical+pure direct is the best combination.i changed to line 1 and i dont see things getting any better..

  It may be that you just prefer the sound of the DAC in the Yamaha, just use your ears and go with whatever sounds best.

  Maybe it is just that. I thought that a "better" dac should sound better. But maybe it is not always this way.. Thank you for your time!

  Well i made several tests and i can say for sure that the problem was the cd input, i just needed some time to get used to it. I changed to line 1 input and everythink is fine as it should be. Now i like node's dac better. Thank you!
