Question abouth router settings
AnsweredI recently changed my system from a Powernode to a poweramp and the new NodeX, I also got myself a set of new speakers this time Magnepan LRS, I have all music on a HDD conected to my router via USB and then the Node connected to the router via networkcable. The cable is the one you got from the router in other word a very cheap one.
Today I tried to disconnect and stream via WiFi and there was a change in the sound the connected setup was more detailed but sometimes to much treble or let me say to sharp so I wonder what your setup is, as today there is many discussions about High End routers dedicated for music and if they are doing the job or not, they cost a lot.

As a user and IT server / backend designer I personally cannot hear any difference. It is possible that mains noise could be carried from a switch or Router along Ethernet but not something I have ever been able to measure. Quite a few are opto isolated so never going to happen. Something like a cheap SMPS could generate enough noise to be picked up and have experienced this in amateur radio equipment.
If an Ethernet cable, Router or switch could alter the packets then it would be faulty and opening up mail or and documents would be corrupted.

Hi Seppi,
I believe we think alike, either it works or if it not works it will be corrupted, but there are so many different opinions, the dealers says one thing, looking around the net you find a thousand opinions, I believe it works better connected with cable as my theory is that there will be no other signal interference with the audio stream. right now I dedicated my routher to just BlueNode and there is no internet, no other thing that runs via the router. For internet and the rest of the house I have another router.

Call me a cynic but I just see schemes of people making money and those that spend are unlikely to say they were foolish.
