Regarding Tidals 24 bit flac
AnsweredSo Tidal is coming out with 24 bit flac, it is currently in beta testing available for those who are connected to Tidals beta program. And in the beginning only for iOS users and later it will also come to Android users.
My question is do you know if it will be available to stream this also through the bluos app to my bluesound or only through tidals own app ?

@Jan time will tell as with all gamble's. People on few audiophile-centric community's are not happy with this so called "solution".
Tidal API maybe does not offer for a user to choose quality settings via 3rd party apps but I'm sure that could copy-past Tidal Integrarion, rename it Tidal MAX and update API to support FLAC on 2nd Tidal music service.

Created an account just to say thanks for this last release before code freeze and the holidays. Thanks for breathing new life into the Node N130 and NAD C658

Yesterday it had finally worked for a day, but now... it's gone.
44,1 all the time again. What has happened ??

Ok, so Tidal iOS app is broken. DAC always plays at 16/44,1 no matter what the app shows.
PC and Android works great. We need an update ASAP!

Works 100 % High Res Flac on TIDAL Connect on my Bluesound N100

Works for me, 100%, all the time. Using a Node X, controlled by iPhone and iPad app.

It doesn't help me :)

Why not

What I experienced with Tidal Connect(iOS app as well) is sometimes the app lose the connection with my Node 2i and it cannot be established again till I restart the Node because it missing from the list. With Airplay it still would work.

Because for me (iPad + NODE) it obviously doesn't work.
So it means in some cases it HAS A PROBLEM, which needs to be fixed. That's why.

@Toth, this may sound too simplistic, but have you tried deleting the Tidal app and then redownloading it? It’s painless, and may be worth a try.

Does everyone understand what Tidal Connect represents and how to use it? I had a lesson from a friend a couple months ago, when we were trying different options.
0 -
Please... It's easy as 123
And I use it from PC (works great), from Android (works great), and from iOS (works not so great)
No user error here.

Any updates on this? I’m not able to play FLAC over the BlueOS yet through my premium Tidal subscription. Is there a setting I’m not aware of? I’m streaming via coax from the Bluesound Node to my DAC via analog to my amp.

"Hi-res via Tidal connect" Not for me... Is there a chance that we will get a working iOS app for Hi-Res Tidal connect?
1 -
In theory, yes. In reality... not so much.
I was one of those who had been waiting for this feature. And yes, sometimes it does work. But most of the time it doesn't.
At the moment I am playing 24/96 FLAC from Tidal connect, and it sends 16/44,1 to my DAC.
BluOS sends 24/48 from the same source...

Hi Toth
Check your DAC settings - if using Deep integration, your DAC will only perform 2 unfolds of the MQA file. If your DAC is MQA compatible and getting 24/48 - well that's what the Master recording is. This means a 24/96 version of the content would be an upsample of the original.

Hi Tony, as I have said, it had been working for a while.
But at te moment NO TIDAL CONNECT for iOS or Android here.
My Android phone doesn't see NODE, and I can stream from iPad only through AirPlay.

Send in a support request, this isn't solving anything...

Tidal Connect has been working with no issues here. Sometimes it also happens to me as well that my phone can no longer find the BluOS device, and, whenever that happens, either a reboot of my WiFi or the BluOS device fixes it. No biggie.

Hallo @Andrew H. and @Tony W.
After bluos enables playback of flac hd files via Tidal, the topic seemed closed to me. However, what I saw today really surprised me. Well, the assumption was that for the two formats, namely flac hd and MQA, the Tidal app selects Flac HD and the BlueOS Controller app selects MQA. OK, so be it. But what if the files are only in Flac HD (and of course in regular Flac)? BlueOS will only play CD quality i.e. regular flac! Of course, I upgraded to the latest version. Are you kidding? I understand that you support MQA, but to choose CD quality and not HD in the absence of MQA is some kind of mockery. There is no MQA then we will only support CD quality for spite. I know this can be circumvented with the Tidal app, but do you think this is a sensible solution? I don't think so.

Today's TIDAL announcement about dropping all support for MQA starting July 24, puts an end to this discussion. Now Bluesound will either have to enable their native app to offer Tidal hirez flac too or be limited only to CD quality when most ALL other streamer brands offer Tidal hirez flacs through their native apps (on top of Connect).

Agreed, but which will it be?

Looks like BluOS finally supports Tidal Max with v4.4.17 update released today.

It doesn't work. I did an update and started to see HR markings next to songs but on playback there is only CD quality.

If you're not familiar with how to change Tidal's streaming quality setting in BluOS, then try the following:
Under "Music Services", click/tap "Manage" at right (with mobile app, first tap "Music" icon at bottom). Then tap/click Tidal. Under streaming quality, select HiRes (24-bit up to 192 kHz).

Thank you, this is very useful information. I would not have found this on my own. However, there is a problem. Despite the change it still only plays in CD quality.

Of course I checked on the various tracks indicated as HR. Via Tidal Connect it plays as it should.

Can’t wait!!!

Just to add that we updated BluOS a week before the changes so that when Tidal does flip the switch next week (so to speak) your players will be fine. The only thing to look for is on the login page for Tidal. If you had previously selected "MQA quality" as the base for your login it will be defaulted to CD quality and if you want the full high res quality you'll need to log out, choose high res and log back in.
