Volume control enabled with a USB connection

As I understand it when using USB output to an external DAC on the Node (N130) the volume controls should be disabled. On my Node I can still adjust the volume from the top panel or the Now Playing screen in the BluOS app. Shouldn’t these controls be disabled?

    Hi Robert

    Check your external DAC specifications and information or their support channels. The two possible issues are your external DAC is not reporting back to the NODE correctly via USB handshaking OR your external DAC is not a DAC but a digital-to-digital converter meaning it is upsampling audio to a resolution higher than the source.

    My DAC is built into my Anthem STR preamp which has room correction that I believe does indeed upsample to a very high level for processing.

    Out of interest why does this cause the Node to enable volume control.

    That is a question for your DAC manufacturer.
