Node (N130) MQA to external DAC through USB output issue solved!
AnsweredI wanted to share a fix I found to the commonly reported issues when connecting the Node to an external DAC (Topping E50) where MQA output is unstable. I had the usual issues, MQA playback was glitchy, switching between MQA, PCM, different sampling rates and continual dropouts. After trying all the suggested fixes (resets, reboots, firmware updates, etc.) on both devices, I decided to remove the wired internet connection and connect via WiFi. Viola! Unit streams perfectly to the Topping through the USB out and the Topping does all the decoding. Maybe this will work for others, I haven't seen this as a listed remedy anywhere else.

Hi Derek
The issue was resolved in BluOS 3.20.52 in the most recent firmware update. Wired versus wireless connections have no change or input on playback. Story to ruin a good story though.

Thanks Tony,
I verified this when home last night. Running on wifi, USB out from to the external DAC works as it should with MQA. Plug the CAT 6 in and it goes back to the issues I described above. Back to wifi and all is good. I agree, it's an odd thing and one should not have an effect on the other, but it does. To verify, I am running the updated software. I bought this unit used so can't say what may have been done previously. Would be happy to share logs or a video if you let me know how.
