Dreadful connectivity issues on BluOs 2i / Nad C368
AnsweredI've had this C368 for the past several months working in Ethernet mode. Have just moved to a new apartment and am connecting via WiFi and am having some real issues. Please note I am using the latest firmware for the C368 and BluOS unit. My router is the standard Verizon FiOS G1100 router.
A couple of things
- I mostly use this for Spotify playback. The unit will, after some period of time, simply stop playing music, and not show up in Spotify Connect (wifi), or Airplay (bluetooth)
- When this happens, he BluOS app does not detect the unit as well, and the router shows the unit as being 'inactive'
- However the NAD remote app does detect the receiver / I can control the unit via the NAD iOS remote
- The issue is intermittent, i.e., after some time of not being connected, it will simply reconnect and start playing again
- This is resolved by a hard restart (switching the amp off at the back and then on again), or resetting the BluOS module
- I have tried other options such as switching off Network Standby. No impact.
- This does not appear to be a wifi signal issue—I have measured no issues with signal strength. I also have a TV sitting directly above and can stream 4K video with no problem (note: this isn't a congestion issue—I'm not streaming video and playing music at the same time)
- Also, despite the BluOS 2i module supposedly being able to connect in a 5GHz band, this simply is not working. I have followed tips elsewhere on this forum RE setting a specific channel in the 40-48MHz range, and still no luck. I'm not sure that operating at 2GHz is causing the issue, but this seems indicative of some deeper issue
So my question to the forum: is this a defective BluOS module, or are these known issues with the 2i? From reading about quality issues across this forum and elsewhere across the web, I'm honestly unsure. It's within warranty period.

HI Andrew
Please select Help, Send Support Request so we can look at your log file and get some more details and pointers on why your Internet Service Provided router is blocking multicast IoT traffic.

You made no mention but always worthwhile power-cycling the router rather than the NAD to see what happens / if it works again once the router is fully up.
2.GHz is more than enough for Spotify (at the time of writing) so doubtful it’s that. If you have an Ethernet lead long enough it may be a good test to temporarily connect the C368 to the router and see if Spotify still stops.

Thanks for the response.
Power-cycling temporarily fixes it (as does resetting the BluOS module, etc.), but the issue comes back.
Connecting via Ethernet would require a 15M cable across my whole apartment, which is not a viable option—I need the wifi to work.

I am in the UK and have no knowledge of the Verizon router but NAD / Bluesound would, could be as simple as a setting on the router that needs toggling.
The Ethernet cable was a temporary test, nothing else. I have 50 meters of Cat5e coiled up in the cupboard under the stairs for testing purposes and it drives the wife mad when it comes out and gets draped everywhere 😂
