Node 2i bad sound quality
I am running a Nucleus + and a Node 2i. For about 6 months now, I have been feeling something was off. It sounds really bad. Super thin, no midrange, lacking bass. Irritating to listen to. I even got a Marantz ND8006 so I could run a streamer without the BluOS app. The Marantz with Heos blows the Node out of the water! I mean not even in the same league. I keep reading how everyone says the Node 2i is suppose to be so good. I have the settings where I think they should be. EQ turned off. Volume control off. etc etc. If anyone has some advise as to what to look at, I'd love to hear it. Otherwise, I'm removing them from the system. Over 3k worth of kit and it seems right now to be not worth $5

Without Roon involved… how does it sound?

I'm going to do some more testing this weekend. Take Roon out of the equation, see what happens. But I did use just the BluOS app and the 2i last night. The sound was still not up to the level of the Marantz. The Node is just flat compared. Lacking on every level.

Good plan, do test using the same leads / input on your amplifier that you used for the ND8006. I am sure this forum would be flooded with complaints if this was by design, I have heard a CD player like you described and it was down to a faulty interconnect.
