Bluetooth pairing pin
AnsweredHi Guys, is it possible to set a pin on the NODE when pairing a device. As it appears anyone can actually connect to the NODE via bluetooth. I live in an apartment and it appears my neighbours can actually connect to my node and cast over it!. seems like a major security flaw!! I've checked all the settings in the bluOS but cannot find anything to secure the device. Please can Devs look into this? Turning off the Bluetooth everytime after use is not a solution.

If this is really an issue anno 2024, Bluesound shame on you. I ordered a nano today but now i’m wondering if it needs to be send back asap. Any smart device should have basic security.

Hi Meulendikjsrob
As mentioned in the official answer, Bluesound Players can only have one device paired at a time. If set to Manual once you have paired or Disabled all together, The Bluesound Player is secure.
Answered here; www.blueosund.com/bluetooth- In the BluOS Controller app, select the Players tab .
- Select the player currently connected to the Bluetooth device.
- Select the Music tab and under the Inputs section, select Customise > Bluetooth. The Bluetooth window appears.
- Select any of the following modes:
- Manual: This mode allows you to manually switch between Bluetooth as a local source in the Inputs section of the Music tab .
- Automatic (default mode selected): This mode automatically switches to the Bluetooth source when a Bluetooth-connected device starts playing audio. You can switch between sources in the Inputs section of the Music tab .
- Guest: This mode switches the Bluesound player to the Bluetooth source when your connected Bluetooth device starts playing audio. However, switching sources disconnects the Bluetooth connection. The Bluetooth source is not displayed under the Inputs section of the Music tab . This configuration is ideal for streaming audio from multiple Bluetooth-enabled devices.
- Disabled: This mode turns off the Bluetooth receiver on the player.

Hello Tony W,
The standard response is mostly related to the input switching. We are talking about restricting devices to connect (when unknown to the Node).
A user wants to be able to register his devices like all the phones in the household. If these are known to the device, it should except those without issue and reject all new devices. This setting seems to be missing in the current options.Nobody wants their neighbors to connect to their node and start playing music, do they? I just don’t get how BT has been implemented, reading this official answer.

You want it set to Manual then. The link I provided gives full details.

Ease of use??! Well, keeping the front door wide open all the time also might be considered "ease of use", but nobody does that, right?
My children just got super scared when suddenly a song in Arabic started playing at full volume in the living room (another long-asked feature of per-source volume level that you keep ignoring). This is just ridiculous, the stereo system in my car that is 10 years old requires confirmation when pairing over BT!

They are never going to fix it. They don't care. I have stopped using bluetooth completly.

@Keralots
Have exactly the same feeling, they don't care. Same issue with SMBv1.Past half year BluOS has shown it's worst UX in the four years I use it. Both streaming and local library having become almost unusable in their updated Android apps. That's why I still use v4.2.4 from a year ago. And that says it all: they have the code of year ago that is properly usable even today under the newer BluOS versions. But they never bothered to fix the junk that has been released for Android over the last 7 months. Indeed they do not care.
